Topic 6.05.02 Keep warm. VERSION CONTROL: 1 August 2017
Take care not to get a chill during your Yoga session. Either wear sufficient clothing to stop heat loss during relaxation periods, or practise in a warm draft-free area. Photographs of Yogis from books taken in the tropics of the Indian sub-continent may depict men exercising in a loin-cloth only, which is then replicated in cooler climes by men in swimming briefs or shorts – please note that your kidneys are unprotected. This is not preferable.
If you are normally a person who feels the cold greatly in the winter months, do remember that you lose 30% of heat from your head. Here, it is quite in order and advisable, to use a scarf or cap (beanie) to keep you warm. Do cover with a warm blanket during relaxation.
