Topic 10.5. Your Spiritual Self

YOUR SPIRITUAL SELF

When Your Thoughts Control You

You find it very difficult to meditate or to be spiritually minded

You sit down to meditate or have your quiet time, and within minutes or even seconds, your mind becomes cluttered and you feel distracted. Every little thing bothers you, such as a phone ringing, a cat or dog, an airplane passing by, or even your own impatience. At the end of the day, you feel frustrated and think that you are just not spiritual enough.

You feel as though god doesn’t answer your prayers or karma has dealt you a poor hand

Blame becomes your pattern. In spite of your knowledge and beliefs, your mind works against you, as prayers go unanswered (often as a result of your own undoing) and you feel as though you are a victim: nothing you do seems to give you the results you want.

You feel more and more disconnected from reality

The more you search, the more you struggle, and the more you learn, the further away it seems. All your accumulation of knowledge and spiritual pursuits isolate you from the groundedness of everyday life and you long to just ‘end’ this fruitless and meaningless search which makes your existence on earth a painful experience.

When You Control Your Thoughts

You sit down and automatically access the serenity and tranquility

You feel the strength and the power of spiritual practices. You absorb spiritual truths and experiences like a sponge and the rest of your day feels more productive, as you carry this feeling of enlightenment throughout your daily routines.

You prayers get answered – sometimes, almost instantaneously and you feel that you were born under a lucky star

Life seems as though the stars were aligned and you were born under thwir blessings. You pray and it feels like a magic lamp as God, the universal great spirit, answers prayers that open up your life to greater meaning and joy!

You exercise your greatest spiritual gifts and you are able to touch lives and help people

Not only do you have balance and groundedness, you are able to exercise your greatest gifts to help as many people as you can on this earth – and have a very good life at the same time. You will find that it is no longer an either/or choice between spirituality and groundedness but a terrific synergy between the two, giving you tremendous power in your life!

What this means to your Spiritual Life

Our degrees, rewards, recognition acquire us social credits. We walk  the path of family, work and society, towards prestige, status and wealth. This is important. Yet, despite all that we have accumulated, life can feel mediocre and unfulfilled. Our uniqueness, passion, creativity, with which we were born, is our spiritual credit. This needs to be unfrozen and transformed into a free flowing river for life.

The fire of your inner rebellion, can turn it into life giving waters and take you to your destination. Here, there is creativity, excellence and delight, which can enable you to be fully connected with your source, so that you can live an effective life in the real world.

Have a clearly defined, written vision for what your life will be like. Do not just go along with whatever anyone else’s vision of your life is supposed to be for you.

Stay in touch with your values, your gifts and your life’s purpose.

Live out your true life’s purpose from your true essence.

Develop true meaning and live a fulfilled life.

Express yourself authentically.

Take time daily to read uplifting books.
