Topic 6.04.02 Sattwic Diet. VERSION CONTROL: 1 August 2017

To derive maximum benefit from the very beginning of your Yoga practice, a pure and plain, sattwic vegetarian diet, free of meat, fish and eggs is most helpful. This does not mean that a non-vegetarian diet will cause you harm, but you may not gain the same benefit that can be gained with a pure, plain vegetarian diet. Let’s qualify plain. Even vegetarian food becomes un-Yogic when it is stale (left-overs!) or fried and mixed with many fats.

Many beginners find it difficult to change over to a Yogic diet of their own free will. This comes gradually, however, and of its own accord, when one practices Yoga regularly and therefore, there is no need to force and superimpose disciplines upon yourself that you may not be quite ready for as yet.
