FRIENDSHIPS
When Your Thoughts Control You
You have too many deadbeat friends and you know it
You want to belong and it doesn’t seem to matter whether it is beneficial for you or not. You just want to fit in somewhere, so you have hooked up with people who drain you…physically, emotionally, financially, and so on. In truth, you are lacking your own self-esteem and the power within you to know that you are stronger than this.
Your friends laugh and ridicule your dreams
You listen to all those people who tell you that you can’t achieve something, as you are still relying on the fact that you have heard this a lot in your life. Your self pride is shot and you sabotage your aspirations, to make sure that what you have been told will come true. You quit even before you put in an effort, as someone has told you that you will fail.
When You Control Your Thoughts
You find friends who are positive and you enjoy their company
Really, it is better to be choosy and have friends that compliment the good things about you, rather than hang out with people who will drag you down. Life is short and there is no reason to constantly try to hold others up, at the peril of your own life and the way you feel about yourself.
You find friends who build you up and encourage you to reach higher
Who needs nay-sayers? Your dreams are yours to follow. When you have people in your life that encourage you, there is nothing that is out of reach. The mere fact that someone believes in you, gives you an extra boost of excitement and sometimes provides you with a way to see successful avenues that you would never have seen before.
What this means for your Friendships
Friends challenge us to heal and grow. In life, we can’t choose our families but we can choose our friends. In choosing your friends, you must be cautious that you are adding value to your life and not adding yet another destructive piece. There are times when you may need to cut ties. It’s important to know what is healthy and what is not. Pick friends who help you soar.
